Most blankets ask you to sit still. The Ember is cut like a long robe, with two full sleeves and a pocket for your feet at the hem, so it stays on when you reach for a cup, type an email or get up to answer the door.
The warmth is built in. Plug it in, choose a setting on the handheld controller and the heat comes through within minutes. The outside is smooth charcoal flannel fleece; the lining, cuffs and collar are thick white sherpa.

Detach the controller and all electrical parts before washing. Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle. Air dry, or tumble dry on low heat.

Like a long robe. Put your arms through the sleeves, let the sherpa collar sit around your neck and, once you are sitting or lying down, slide both feet into the pocket at the hem.
Plug the blanket in and use the handheld controller. Its display shows the setting you are on, and the buttons take the heat up or down until it feels right.
You will notice the warmth coming through within a few minutes of switching it on.
The blanket regulates its own temperature and switches itself off automatically. Please still read the safety leaflet in the box before first use, as you would with any heated textile.
